Getting started
The first time you open Aures Portfolio, it loads with sample holdings, transactions and dividends so you can explore every screen before entering your own numbers.
- Open the app and look around — the dashboard, transactions, dividends and history all show sample data, not real figures.
- When you're ready to start tracking your own investments, go to Settings → Danger zone → Reset application. This clears the sample data completely.
- Add your first asset from the Portfolio screen, then log any past buys, sells and dividends you want on record.
Resetting erases everything currently in the app. If you want to keep anything from the sample data — unlikely, but possible — export a backup first.
Dashboard
The dashboard is your portfolio at a glance: total value, cost, gain or loss, and how it's split across categories and currencies.
- Total value shows your holdings converted into your base currency, with total cost and unrealized gain or loss below it.
- Exposure breaks your portfolio down by category and by currency, so you can see concentration at a glance.
- Performance shows the annualized return (XIRR) since inception. It becomes more accurate the more transactions and dividends you log.
- Advanced statistics — all-time high, current and maximum drawdown, volatility, mean vs. median position, day change, largest position, and win/loss split — are calculated from your saved snapshots (History). Switch the scope between this portfolio and all portfolios combined.
- Once a day, opening the dashboard refreshes prices and saves a snapshot automatically for any asset with an ISIN or ticker — no need to update things by hand.
Managing your holdings
Each holding is one line in your portfolio — a fund, a stock, a bond, or cash — with its own quantity, currency, category and price.
- Tap Add asset and give it a name, a category, a currency and a quantity.
- Use Autofill to pull the current price for many public tickers, or enter a price yourself for anything else.
- Mark an asset as interest-bearing (e.g. a savings account or bond) to have Aures accrue its balance automatically over time.
Transactions
Transactions are a separate log of buys and sells, so realized gains stay on record even after you've closed a position entirely.
- Link a transaction to an existing holding to auto-fill its details and keep the quantity in sync — or leave it unlinked to record pure history.
- On a sale, enter the cost basis per unit sold and Aures calculates the realized gain or loss for you.
- Fees are tracked separately from price, so your total invested figure stays accurate.
- Every buy is kept as a separate lot, oldest first (FIFO). When you sell, you can pick a specific lot to sell from — its cost basis and quantity fill in automatically — useful when it matters for your taxes.
Dividends & coupons
Log every payout you receive — stock dividends, bond coupons, savings interest — so it counts toward your total return, not just your capital gains.
- Each payout can be linked to an asset, with its own date, amount and currency.
- The dividends screen totals what you've received overall and in the current year.
Watchlist
Keep an eye on instruments you don't own yet — no quantity, no cost, just a name and a price. The watchlist is shared across all your portfolios.
- Add an instrument by ISIN or ticker and use autofill, or enter a name and price manually for anything not covered by lookup.
- Refresh a single price or all of them at once, the same way you would for a holding.
- When you're ready to actually buy it, tap Turn into a holding to move it straight into your portfolio — no need to re-enter its details.
Currencies
Hold assets in as many currencies as you like — everything is converted into a single base currency for your totals.
- Choose your base currency in Settings → Currencies. All totals in the app convert into it.
- Tap Update rates to fetch current exchange rates from a free, public service — this is the only automatic external request the app makes.
- Asset prices themselves are always entered manually, so you stay in control of what each holding is worth.
History & snapshots
A snapshot is a saved record of your portfolio's total value on a given day. Over time, snapshots become a chart of real growth.
- Save a snapshot manually any time from the History screen, or let Aures save one automatically at a sensible interval.
- The chart and table both live on the History screen, so you can review or delete any past entry.
Rebalancing
An optional tool to help you keep your portfolio aligned with a target allocation, category by category.
- Turn on rebalancing for a portfolio in Settings — it's off by default for every portfolio.
- Set a target percentage for each category. They should add up to 100%.
- Aures shows the current vs. target value for each category, and how much to buy or sell to close the gap.
Multiple portfolios
Keep entirely separate portfolios — yours, a partner's, a child's — each with its own assets, transactions, dividends and history.
- Switch between portfolios from the selector at the top of the sidebar.
- Add or remove portfolios from Settings. Deleting a portfolio permanently removes everything in it, so export a backup first if in doubt.
Settings
Language, categories, tax rate and the danger zone all live in one place.
Backup & CSV
Since nothing is stored on a server, exporting a backup is the only way to move your data or protect it from a lost device.
- Download backup saves everything — assets, currencies, categories and history — to a single file.
- Restore backup loads that file back in, on this device or a new one.
- Use CSV export/import instead if you just want your holdings in a spreadsheet.
There's no cloud sync. If your browser data is cleared, or you switch devices without a backup file, your data is gone — export regularly.
PDF reports
Generate a clean, printable summary of the active portfolio whenever you need one on paper or as a PDF.
- Go to Settings → PDF report and tap Generate report.
- The report includes holdings, allocation, currency exposure, dividends and realized gains.
- Use your browser's print dialog and choose Save as PDF to keep a copy.
Privacy & your data
Aures Portfolio was built offline-first. Here's exactly what that means in practice.
- All your data — assets, transactions, dividends, history — is stored locally in your browser and never leaves your device by default.
- The only outgoing request is the optional exchange-rate lookup, which sends no personal or portfolio data — just currency codes.
- There's no account, no analytics and no advertising in the app.
